Have We Fully Seen and Experienced the Power of God?

Jan 24, 2024

Isaiah 40:28-29 - “Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of his understanding.

[29] He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.”

It is truly a source of comfort and inspiration to know that our God is a kind and compassionate God who always seeks to provide comfort and protection to His people. Without God's presence and promise, life as we know it would be incredibly difficult and hopeless in these perilous times.

Although many people acknowledge the existence of God and His power, they fail to see His power and grace due to their pride and self-will. They only turn to God as a last resort when all else fails and then have the audacity to blame Him for not coming to their aid sooner. God has become an emergency service for them to call upon at their convenience.

The essence of God is love, and His nature is characterized by patience and kindness. However, it is crucial to avoid thinking of Him as a mere tool or caretaker whom we can rely on only when we feel the need for His intervention. In reality, we require His presence in our lives not just occasionally or frequently but consistently and unconditionally. As His creations, we must always depend on Him and trust in His divine guidance to lead us toward the path of righteousness and fulfillment.

Faith is not about our abilities or efforts but our trust and reliance on God's power and guidance to work in and through us. It involves surrendering our needs and desires to Him and acknowledging His grace as He provides for us in ways that are best and most beneficial for us. It is truly awe-inspiring to see the amazing things that God is capable of and how He works in our lives to bring about His plans and purposes.

Isaiah's words carry both a gentle admonishment and a hopeful encouragement. His reprimand stems from our tendency to underestimate God's power and ability to work in our lives. This is why he challenges us, asking, "Don't you know the power of God and what else He can do?" We often allow setbacks, failures, and obstacles to discourage us because we forget who God is and what He can accomplish.

However, it's essential to understand that God is always active and involved in our lives. He knows everything that happens to us and never stops working on our behalf, even when we fail to recognize it. When we choose to live outside of His will and try to control our own lives, He sometimes allows us to experience the consequences of our decisions to help us realize how powerless we are without Him. It's only then that we recognize our need for Him and how much we depend on His power and guidance to navigate through life's challenges.

Our Prayer for today:

Dear God, You have blessed us with countless gifts and resources that equip us to overcome life's challenges. However, we often make the mistake of relying solely on these blessings without fully surrendering them to You. We pray that we remain grateful and mindful, always seeking Your will and relying on Your power to guide us. We surrender everything to Your control, trusting that we will serve and glorify You faithfully. In Jesus' name, Amen.
