GOD DIRECTS YOU AS YOU SEEK HIM

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

If you’ve hiked through a wooded area, you know the value of staying on carefully marked paths. The paths are there to help you navigate through the area. When you veer off the path, you might find yourself in trouble.

Like Pilgrim in John Bunyan’s The Pilgrim’s Progress, we need to stay on the clearly-marked path in order to avoid all kinds of trouble. God promises that when we trust him and seek his will instead of depending on our own understanding, he will direct our paths. That doesn’t mean that we never think through a problem or ask others for advice, but it does mean that we take what we know and the advice we get and still seek God’s guidance.

With God’s guidance we’ll stay on the path, step around the rocks and boulders, and not get pulled in other directions. As we walk the path, we can seek God’s will and walk in step-by-step obedience.

GOD’S PROMISE TO ME:

• When you trust in me and seek my will, I will direct your path.

MY PRAYER TO GOD:

Lord, I truly need your direction. Help me to trust you wholeheartedly and to seek your will in all I do. Give me wisdom and the peace that comes from knowing that you are directing my path. Amen.
