GOD VALUES YOU

1 Corinthians 6: 18-19 

Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. [19] What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

Sex is everywhere, isn’t it? Walk by a newsstand, turn on the TV, go to most movies, or go online. But notice that the Bible doesn’t say, “Run from sex!” God created sex and gave it as a wonderful gift to the man and woman he created for their pleasure and for procreation. But Satan twisted what God created and made it into a destructive force. Therefore we need a healthy view of sex and sexuality while being aware of and avoiding sexual sin.

There are ways to develop a God-centered view of sex. Find Christian books on this topic. Set guidelines that work for you and your family—from what you watch to what you wear. If you have children, teach them modesty and purity. Teach them that sex is good within God’s boundary—marriage. Discuss as a family what constitutes sexual sin and how to run from it. 

GOD’S PROMISE TO ME:

• You were bought at a high price and are indwelt by the Holy Spirit.

• You can honor me with your body.

• I can help you run away from sexual sin.

MY PRAYER TO GOD:

Oh Lord, I see unwanted pregnancies, sexual disease, families torn apart, pain—all from the misuse of your good gift. You tell us to flee from sexual sin. Help me to appreciate your gift of sex and to use it as you intended. Amen.
