GOD HAS MADE YOU HIS HEIR

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

Romans 8:16

They were wealthy, middle-aged and childless. So they did what lots of couples do. They adopted a child to love and care for. When they died, everything they had went to their son—a hundred million dollars in assets. What had the boy done to deserve such an inheritance? Nothing. He was their son. The parents chose him. They adopted him.

This true story is analogous to what God has done for us. Reaching out to us. Forgiving our sin. Bringing us into his family. It was his decision. We had nothing to do with it, except to respond in faith.

Oh, and what about the infinite, eternal inheritance? That’s ours too. All of it.

These are important truths to ponder. Can you see how grasping all this might alter the mindset and the habits of an overly striving Christian? 

GOD’S PROMISE TO ME:

MY PRAYER TO GOD:

Your Spirit, God, reminds me that I am your child. Oh, Father, I will never know why you chose me, why you loved me and adopted me into your family. But I am grateful, and I thank you with all my heart. Amen.
