THE GODLY CAN GIVE GOOD ADVICE

Psalm 37:30-31

The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment. The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

Having wise people to go to for advice and guidance is a precious gift. God says, “Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.” (Proverbs 15:22). While God is our ultimate source of wisdom, he understands that we need people to talk to, to bounce thoughts and ideas off of, and to help us work through a situation or make a decision. We should seek out wise believers who can offer good counsel. We need to ask God to help us be wise believers ourselves, those who fill our hearts with God’s law so that we will never slip from his path. Then we can offer godly counsel to others.

As we navigate through life, we need to seek out wise, godly people for advice. We need to pray for our friends and family that they too will find others to guide them. And as we mature and grow older, we can ask God to help us to be godly advisors who can offer wise counsel to others. 

GOD’S PROMISE TO ME:

• I can guide you to people who will give godly advice.

• I can help you give godly counsel to others.

MY PRAYER TO GOD:

Lord, give me discernment to know what advice is godly advice. Then help me make a good decision. I want to be known as a godly person who knows right from wrong and can give others solid guidance. Amen.
