The Joy of the Lord

May 26, 2023

There are plenty of synonyms associated with the word, JOY. Among them are happiness, cheer, delight, elation, glee, and fun. However, joy to most people is something elusive. To some it is difficult to find. For others, it is rarely to experience and short-lived.

In their searching, people have done everything possible to possess it. Until today they are still searching, trying all the worldly experiences and whatever life can offer, but still with no satisfaction. When they thought it was found, it did not last. It was short-lived.

Is it perhaps they are searching the wrong kind? Maybe looking for it at the wrong places. What about wanting it for the wrong reason? Is it really possible to have this Joy and experience its fulness?

Our Scripture says that God desires that we possess this joy. In fact, He wants us to enjoy its fulness. Once given it totally satisfies for it remains in us in whatever state or circumstances we are in.

The joy that God gives is not found in any happenings. It cannot be seen in physical riches, conveniences, and comfort. No individual can offer it. It is not something to search for. It is something given and to be received freely from God, through Christ Jesus.

The Joy that comes through Christ is unspeakable. It is indescribable and incomprehensible. For it is not from any happenings or from anything that this world can offer and provide. It is present in all children of God; people who have experienced His Saving grace and have the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.

God’s joy is full of glory for it comes from a glorious source. The more we read and study God’s Word, we find and experience more of His glory and the more, this joy is abundant and glorious.

The joy of the Lord is our strength. It is with us all the time, even in the midst of difficulties, trials and afflictions. The Bible says, in some nights there might be full of tears, but joy always comes in the morning!

To have this joy is a reality to all children of God. If you are not yet saved, you do not have this joy, but you can receive it freely by coming to Christ by faith and the Holy Spirit will bring this joy with Him to be in you forever.

If you are a child of God, there is no reason to live in sadness. For even in severe trials, this Joy remains to do its job. You always have this joy because the Holy Ghost is in you. If you want to enjoy its presence and wonders, you have to claim it and use it for His glory.

Just like what the text says, our joy can be full. Every time we read, proclaim, and apply His Word, this joy becomes full and abundant. You will know it and others will see this Joy in you. Praise God!
