God’s Unending Love

Feb 14, 2024

Romans 8:38-39 - “38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come. 39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

On this day and month, most people celebrate love and relationships, but let us turn our hearts toward the greatest love story ever told—the love of our Heavenly Father. His love is not fleeting, conditional, or bound by time. It is unending, unwavering, and all-encompassing. In Romans 8:38-39, the apostle Paul paints a vivid picture of God’s love. He lists various forces—death, life, angels, demons, and more—and declares that none of them can sever the bond between us and our Creator. Not even the vast expanse of the universe can separate us from His love. This is the unbreakable bond between God and us, His children.

God’s love is not based on our performance, merit, or worthiness. It goes beyond our limitations, our failures, doubts, and shortcomings. When we feel unworthy, His love whispers, “You are cherished.” When we stumble, His love lifts us up; when we wander and go astray, His love guides us home; when we deviate from what is good and expected, He reminds us; when we are misplaced or lost, He finds us. This is God’s love beyond measure.

God’s unending love is constant and steadfast. It transcends human understanding and remains unwavering in the face of our flaws, sins and distance from God. It covers us, strengthens and comforts us, regardless of the season we face. In John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” This is the most powerful reminder of God’s love, sacrifice and the eternal hope we have in Jesus, our Savior. This is the ultimate expression of God’s love. Through Jesus’ selfless act on the cross, God’s love continues throughout eternity.

God’s unending love is eternal. It existed before time began and will endure beyond our earthly existence. It’s a love that spans eternity, reaching into our past, present and future. “And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us, God is Love, and He that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in Him,” in I John 4:16.

God’s unending love is encompassing. It extends to every person, regardless of their background, ethnicity, social status or past mistakes. Whether rich or poor, powerful or marginalized, even to the weakest or the most threatened and to the least among us, God reaches out to all. It is not reserved for a select few; it’s available to everyone who believes in God.

God’s unending love is rich in mercy. Even when we got lost in our sins, He extended grace and quickened us together with Jesus Christ. His compassion knows no bounds, and His love extends even to the most undeserving. Imagine an ocean of mercy, deeper than we can fathom. God’s love shows us to forgive others, just as He forgives us. His mercy endures forever.

God’s unending love is unconditional. It is not contingent on our performance, accomplishments or qualities. It’s freely given unchanging, long-lasting and always present. God chooses to love us, and that choice remains unwavering. God’s unconditional love gives us worth, hope and inspires us to love others as He loves us.

So let us remember in this world of conditional love, God’s love stands as a stable refuge - a powerful presence that sustains us through all circumstances. Let us take every moment to reflect on the depth of God’s love for you and me. Imagine His arms wrapped around you, holding you close. His love is not a mere sentiment; it’s a powerful force that sustains us through life’s storms and adversities. No matter where you are today, know this: God’s love reaches you.

Our Prayer for Today:

Our Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unending love. Help us grasp its magnitude and live in the assurance that nothing can separate us from You. With Your love, mercy and grace, all things are possible. May we love others as You love us. We ask and pray, Lord, for Your continued guidance, protection and provision upon us as we journey through life until Jesus Christ comes to lead us home. We pray and believe in Jesus' mighty name.  Amen.
