The LORD, The God of Hosts is His NAME

Amos 4:11~12 - “For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name.”

Have you ever asked yourself “Who is the God you claim to believe?” Maybe, the question must be, “Are you aware and mindful of God in your lives at all times?” I am not questioning your faith in God at all. My desire is to simply get your attention about “who God really is in your life.”

Most people know there is God because of what they have heard and read. That is why some countries are called “Christian nations” due to the general notion and belief of the majority that there is God but they have no personal relationship and fellowship with Him. Some are raised in a “Christian household.” They consider themselves “Christians” just because they go to a “Christian or a Christianized Church.”

It is no wonder that when these people are introduced to new intriguing thoughts and ideas, they are quickly led to change and depart from what they declared to be their conviction. They do not remain strong in their professed beliefs. It is because they only rest on the idea or information about God, without having the personal and intimate relationship and fellowship with Him. There is a big difference between “knowing about a person” and truly “knowing personally the person.”

I grew up in a Christian home and from my youth, I learned about God. I “believed” in Him. I went to Church and attended Sunday School. I also became involved actively as a “member” of our Church. My so-called “faith” was based on my knowledge “about” Him. I thought I was saved until I realized that God did not want me to only be informed about Him. He wanted me to have a personal relationship with Him. It was when I was in Bible College that I went to Him by faith and began the eternal relationship with Him as my Heavenly Father.

Since that incredible experience, I began to know Him better. I continue to learn more from Him through His Words and my obedience to His will. The knowledge that I have does not simply come from the pages of the Bible, but from Him personally through the Holy Spirit as He engages with me daily. In my life, the Bible is alive and is progressively turning my life to be like Christ.

Our text reveals that the ONE who makes all things possible and WHO gives everything that is good is the “Lord, our God.” The “Lord of Saboath” is His name. He is the everlasting and our only Sovereign God who is always active and aware of what is going on in our lives. He continues to sustain and maintain everything He created in His power. He knows us as His created beings, but He wants us to be transformed into new creatures: “All things are passed away and old things to become new.

Perhaps, you are among those people who know about God but you do not know Him as your personal Savior. He is inviting you right now to come to Him by faith. Repent and confess your sins to Him right now and claim the eternal relationship He promised to give you.

Romans 10:9-11 - “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. [10] For with the heart, man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. [11] For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.”

If you are already saved, do not only talk about God but begin to show who He is in your life. He wants you to be His eyes, mouth, hands, and legs to reveal His power and extend His grace to the world. Let others see Jesus in you!

Do you only know about God or do you know Him personally today?
